Objectives This workshop provides an opportunity for everybody interested in economics to exchange ideas. Researchers are invited to submit theoretical and applied papers on this year’s special topic “Thirlwall´s Law and Balance of Payments constrained growth”. Top Keynote speakers are invited to contribute on this year’s special topic. Participants The workshop is open to anybody involved in growth economics and international trade issues, including both young and experienced researchers, post-doctoral students, and professionals from government and non-governmental institutions. Submission of Papers Only full papers may be submitted. All papers must include a cover page with the following information: • An abstract of up to 500 words, with JEL classification and no more than 5 key words; • Authors’ full name, affiliation; • Contact details for corresponding author, such as address, phone, and e-mail. All papers should be submitted electronically to the workshop organizer, Elias Soukiazis, elias@fe.uc.pt, as doc or .pdf files (preferably .pdf) on or before May 30th, 2011. Papers must be in English, and should not exceed 25 pages (A4 or letter) including all references, tables and the like. Authors of accepted papers will be notified no later than June 5th, 2011. Paper presenters are expected to discuss one other paper during the workshop. The discussant assignments will be made by the workshop organizer at a later date. Publication of Papers After the workshop participants will be invited to submit their papers for publication. There will be a special issue of the PSL Quarterly Review, www.pslquarterlyreview.info that will publish, after a peer reviewing process, a selection of papers presented at the workshop . The introduction of this volume will include the keynote speeches. Location The workshop will be held at the Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra, a lively town in the Centre of Portugal.
