The Faculty of Economics (FEUC) was founded in 1973. It is the second most recent faculty to form part of the University of Coimbra, which is one of the oldest universities in Europe with more than 700 years of history.

The academic year of 2003-2004 will be marked by the celebration of 30 years of FEUC. To mark this celebration the department of economics is organizing an international conference: “Economic Policies in the New Millennium”.

The conference will bring together prominent economists to debate the challenges and opportunities facing economic policies in the beginning of the third millennium. By focusing on the theme of economic policies, the conference will provide an opportunity for gathering, analyzing, and debating state-of-the-art academic research that may improve our understanding and help us build the future.

This conference will showcase the impact of the University’s research by addressing broad thematic ideas that are of high public interest, and that will capture the attention of a large audience including our students, teaching staff, policy-makers and the broader community.
